Stretched from the foot of Mount Tamalpais to the marshland of Richardson Bay, Corte Madera is full of both beauty and conveniences. Blending an active community with a laid-back feel, the area is home to one of the largest and most active public parks in Marin. With an impressive 20+ acres, Town Park and the Corte Madera Community Center are a favorite location for soccer matches, summer camps, tennis courts, sports fields, kids play structure, year-round recreational programs, and events for all age ranges.
Corte Madera is home to two of the finest outdoor shopping centers in Marin – The Village at Corte Madera and the Town Center – establishing this as a premier Marin location for boutiques, major department stores, and a variety of restaurants. (Local tip – For even more local foods and artisan goods, don’t miss the Wednesday Farmers Market in the Town Center courtyard!)
Larkspur, Corte Madera’s neighbor and “Twin City,” is home to both a commuter ferry terminal and a main driving route to the East Bay, help establish Corte Madera as an ideal location for commuting to other areas of the Bay. The cities also share a police department, school district and 4th of July celebration and parade.
The Larkspur-Corte Madera School District is home to award winning Neil Cummins Elementary, as well as two California Gold Ribbon schools, the Cove elementary and Hall Middle School. Private options include Lycee Francais, Marin Montessori, and Marin Country Day School. Public high school options are split between Tamalpais and Redwood high schools, both of which are repeated California Distinguished Schools.
On average, Corte Madera has 263 sunny days per year. Temperatures range from about 42F-85F.
Fun Fact – Christmas Tree Hill, on a hill at the base of Corte Madera, was named in the early days of street lights and lighted homes. The hill, leading up to Mt. Tamalpais, created the shape of a lit Christmas tree.
