We would like to strongly recommend Jeff Sterley to anyone seeking to buy a house in Marin County. When we decided to move back to Marin after many years away, we found that the housing market was in an extremely difficult place for buyers, as there were very few houses on the market and when they appeared there was a frenzy of above price offers for all of them. This was very discouraging. A bit overwhelmed, a friend suggested that we meet Jeff and consult with him about what we were looking for, what neighborhoods, the limits of our potential funding, etc.
We met with Jeff and immediately felt comfortable with his style and approach. Jeff suggested that one option would be for hm and his office to write a letter that would be delivered directly to every house in the neighborhoods we were interested in and see what we might be able to do “off-market”. This had the advantage of being more personal with potential sellers and also avoiding the craziness of the open market. Thankfully, one neighbor responded positively and we were able to purchase a beautiful house in the neighborhood we most desired and were able to do so without the discomfort and uncertainty of an open market bidding war.
